Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation into the one car personal injury motor vehicle accident which occurred at approximately 9:00 pm Wednesday evening on NYS Rt. 38A near the intersection of Sayles Corners Rd. in the Town of Moravia. Preliminary investigation reveals that Mathew L. Pidgeon age 21 of 5122 Owasco Rd. Auburn was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Impala southbound on Rt. 38A at a high rate of speed when he lost control on a curve travelling off of the east side of the roadway and overturning. Pidgeon and his three passengers were all ejected from the vehicle. Pidgeon was transported to Auburn Community Hospital for treatment and was subsequently released. The investigation further reveals that the victims had left a party in the Town of Niles, just prior to the mva, where underage alcohol consumption was occurring, and were en route to Moravia.Mathew Pidgeon has been charged with the following: Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st (felony) Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor), Improper Plates, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Failure to keep right, Failure to reduce speed on a curve ( all traffic infractions ). Pidgeon will be arraigned on the charges sometime later this evening.The investigation is continuing and further charges may be filed against Mathew Pidgeon pending lab results and final injury reports on the victims.A secondary investigation is being conducted into the persons responsible for providing the venue and the alcohol where underage subjects were served. Passengers in the vehicle were as follows:Joshua Gould age 19 of 5114 Rt. 38A Owasco- airlifted to University HospitalDominic Petrocci age 19 of 3622 County Line Rd. Skaneateles- by ambulance to University HospitalDaniel Beck age 18 of 3875 Mandy Rue Skaneateles- airlifted to University HospitalAll of the victims are being treated for non life threatening injuries.
