The American Red Cross is celebrating an amazing turnout for the first ever Twilight 5K in Canandaigua. On Thursday evening, July 19, 508 registered runners enjoyed a beautiful course that took them through Lagoon Park and along Canandaigua Lake. Afterward they gathered at Inn on the Lake for a party with pizza from Mark’s Pizzeria, drinks from the Inn on the Lake, and the band Fishbone Soup.Cash prizes were awarded to the first place and second place overall male and female finishers. The first place finishers in each age division were awarded medals.Female Division 1st Place: Amy Cymerman, Pittsford, NY 2nd Place: Laura Anderson, Rochester, NYMale Division1st Place: Kevin Sheehan, Victor, NY2nd Place: Greg Fedorchak, Endwell, NYThe 5K raised more than $10,000 for the American Red Cross. Proceeds from the event will go to American Red Cross disaster relief efforts. In 2012, the local Red Cross has already responded to Tropical Storm Debby, wildfires in Colorado, and numerous local home fires.
