Seneca Falls PD hosts first annual Bike Rodeo

The Seneca Falls Police Department will host its 1st Annual Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday June 30th, 2012 from 8AM until 1:00PM. This event, which is 100% sponsored by local businesses and private donations, will be held at the Seneca Falls Community Center located at 35 Water Street in Seneca Falls. The event is open to any children ages 5 through 14. A bicycle rodeo is a fun way of educating children on bicycle safety. During the event, children will go through multiple phases such as a bicycle inspection, helmet fit station, bicycle safety, rules of the road, bicycle obstacle course, and a way of keeping your bicycle safely secured. The Seneca Falls Police Department will have a certified bicycle safety inspector on hand to properly inspect all bicycles.The Seneca Falls Police Department will giving away free t-shirts, bike reflectors, bicycle helmets, refreshments, and prizes. We will also have free raffles for every child that participates in the bike rodeo for a chance to win bicycles, safety equipment, and bike locks. The Seneca Falls Police Department will also provide Operation Safe Child ID Cards and a Child vehicle restraint checkpoint.The Seneca County Sheriffs Department D.A.R.E. Officers and Marine Unit will also be at the event.The Seneca Falls Police Department asks that everyone attending bring their own bicycle for inspection and operation throughout the course. We ask that if you already have a a properly fitting helmet to bring that as well.
