The Seneca County Fair parade is one of the most popular events of the annual county fair. This year’s parade will be on Friday, July 20. In celebration of the 169th anniversary of the county fair, the theme of this year’s parade will be “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.” Entries should be sent to George Poormon by calling 315 539 3913 or email at [email protected] Everyone is welcome to participate. Deadline for entries is July 8.Line up will be at 6 p.m. on the side streets off Virginia St. The parade will start promptly at 7 p.m. for the march down Virginia Street to Main Street, Swift Street to Wright Avenue and into the fairgrounds. Prizes and cash awards will be given for entries in the following categories: Class 1, Floats – A. youth groups, B. community organizations, C. businesses (rosette awards only); Class 2, Bands – A. schools, B. community; Class 3, Twirling groups; Class 4, Marching Groups –A. youth, B. adults (auxiliaries, others) C. color guards (veterans and/or armed service organizations and auxiliaries); Class 5 Floats/Marching Group – A. Community Groups, youth, B. Community Groups adult, C. Businesses (rosette awards only); Class 6, Fire Departments – A. Best Appearing Department, B. Longest Distance, C. Most in Line; Class 7, Equestrian – A. youth groups/individuals, B. Adult Groups/individuals, C. Adults, horse drawn carriages, wagons, et cetera; Class 8, Antique/Classic Automobiles/Vehicles (rosette awards only) – A. 1948 and older, B. 1949 and up sedans, C. 1949 and up convertibles, D. Special vehicles, E. Customized, F. Tractor Groups.“We hope you will join in this fun summertime event,” Poormon said. “Encourage your friends to join in, too. Everyone is welcome.” The 169th Seneca County Fair will be July 16-21 at the Fairgrounds on Swift Street.
