The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce invites local businesses to nominate an employee for enrollment in the Finger Lakes Leadership program, Class of 2013.Founded in 2002, Finger Lakes Leadership is a professional development program sponsored by the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce, Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce, and the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce.Each year, a group of individuals are selected to participate in a ten-month educational program that consists of a kick off dinner, one day retreat, nine monthly day-long sessions, and a class project. Participants receive in-depth exposure to the critical issues facing the Finger Lakes Region through lectures, discussion groups, on-site visits, and other leadership development activities. Issues to be addressed during the year include human services, government & politics, technology, economic development, health care, education, agriculture, and tourism. The program enables participants to develop their leadership capacities, build strong relationships and prepare themselves for the challenges of the years to come. The class of 2013 will also benefit from the expert training provided by Finger Lakes Community College.The newly formed partnership with Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce and Seneca County Chamber of Commerce makes Finger Lakes Leadership a true regional program. Participants will benefit from a completely reworked program agenda, with a bigger regional focus. The program is designed to identify, educate, and motivate a select group of individuals who live and/or work in the region for growth in positions of workplace and community leadership.Contact the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce for an application or visit www.genevany.com. Tuition to the Finger Lakes Leadership program is $850 and applications are due by August 31, 2012. Applications submitted by August 1, 2012 will receive a $100 discount.
