At 8:26P.M. on Sunday, June 3, 2012 all 3 Geneva Fire Companies responded to a reported house fire at 46 Wadsworth St. in the City of Geneva.Upon arrival firefighters reported smoke coming from the rear of the structure and visible flames on the northwest window of the building with a report of possibly 2 people inside.The first crew that entered the structure found one victim in the premise. The victim was removed and pronounced dead at the scene. No other person was found at the premise.The fire was declared under control at 8:53P.M. and overhaul was continued. Border City Fire Department provided stand by coverage for the City. There were no reports of firefighter injuries.Geneva Fire Department is releasing the name of the victim who has been identified as 50 year old Robert D. Ragin.The preliminary ruling of the cause of death is accidental due to smoke inhalation.The investigation is ongoing to determine origin of fire.
