Main St. Arts Center to open in Penn Yan this month

Area residents and visitors are invited to the Grand Opening of the Art Center of Yates County’s new home at 127 Main Street June 22 and 23. The public grand opening coincides with the opening of the exhibit First Impressions on June 22nd from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, featuring the work of painters Sheldon Berlyn and Ileen Kaplan. First Impressions will also showcase new work from the Arts Center’s Artist of the Year, Kent Salisbury, and many of our 70 local exhibiting artists.Take time on Saturday, June 23rd to stop by an Open House from 10 am to 4 pm at the new Arts Center. Volunteer docents will be conducting tours of the newly renovated structure, which includes a light-filled exhibit space as well as workshop and meeting space. The Arts Center is excited to be relocating to an historic building in the heart of Penn Yan’s business district. Renovations on the Maxwell Building, which formerly housed Baldwin’s and Norstar banks as well as Penn Yan Village Court, have been on-going since January under the direction of Paul Brown Contracting of Dundee. The Arts Center’s volunteer board of directors is confident that this investment in Main Street will increase the organization’s ability to enrich the quality of life for Finger Lakes residents, artists and visitors by providing a multi-functional space in which to provide a variety of opportunities for active participation in the arts.Come celebrate the arts in Yates County at the Arts Center’s grand opening and open house. We can’t wait to share our First Impressions at 127 Main Street – and yours! For more information contact Kris Pearson at 315-536-8226 or [email protected].
