South Seneca’s Falcon Pride is flying high after earning the ‘Grand Champion’ award, the highest recognition at the 40th annual Seneca Falls Pageant of Bands. Director of the concert bands, jazz bands, marching band and drum line, Raymond Zajac, Jr., noted, “I am remarkably impressed by the collective effort of all of our students put forth to achieve a very special Grand Champion win!” He added, “South Seneca has once again demonstrated the talent that exists in a small rural district and how they can compete with class B and A schools with larger numbers and more directors.” Grand Champion is the highest award only given to one school with the top points accumulated for the entire pageant. In addition to the grand champion award, South Seneca performed in Class C competition and won these awards: The marching band led by drum majorette, Tracey Zajac, played a high powered rendition of “Copacabana” to an enthusiastic crowd and earned first place; The energetic High School Jazz Band earned third place; The Middle School Jazz Band who rocked the house earned first place; The dynamic High School Concert Band earned second place; The outstanding Middle School Concert Band earned first place; The spectacular Drum Line earned first place in the PSA-SS division; The Twirlers showed character and earned first place; the expressive and impressive Color Guard earned first place in the novice division. Color Guard is directed by Ann Morgan.South Seneca will next perform at the annual Gorham Pageant of Bands on June 1st and 2nd. Congratulations, South Seneca Falcons!
