SENECA FALLS – The 31st Lap podcast will be airing a live pre- and post-race program from the 2012 Victoria 200 at Utica Rome Speedway (Vernon, NY) Monday, May 28.The live, track side show is being presented by Finish Line Web Design (FinishLineWebDesign.ca).The twinbill will feature an hour-long pre-race program leading up to the storied Victoria 200. Tentative guests include Craig Revelle, Bobby Varin, Stewart Friesen and Jessica Zemken. The post-race show will be around an hour as well, and will feature an interview with the top finishers from the Victoria 200.”It’s kind of like in the same vein as NASCAR’s RaceDay on SPEED,” said show host Mike Mallett. “We’re not out to copy anyone. We’re kind of doing our own thing, but if people want some sort of reference, that’s what most people can relate to.”The stage will be setup with speakers so fans at the Victoria 200 race can stop by and listen to the podcast as it happens without needing an internet feed.Using social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook and WordPress, the 31st Lap team will be updating fans throughout the night with photos and video interviews with drivers. With respect to Utica Rome Speedway, The 31st Lap will not be airing live any portions of the actual race event.”We’re looking forward to it and it’s great to have guys like John Tiff and Gene Cole and Utica Rome Speedway on board with it,” said show producer Chris Marquart. “It’s different, that’s for sure. It’s a big undertaking and I’m not really even sure if anyone has tried this at the local level before.”But it will really take advantage of all the ‘other’ media outlets available and I think it will help push ‘the show’ aspect of Victoria 200 Weekend.”Fans can find links to the live show by visiting Fingerlakes1.com’s homepage, or http://podcasts.fingerlakes1.com/the31stlap.The 31st Lap, a web-based, racing-focused program co-hosted by Mallett, John Baumes and Rich Post airs every Thursday night from the downtown studios of FingerLakes1.com in Seneca Falls.
