Seneca County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of a canoe that capsized on Cayuga Lake early Saturday at about 2:05 am. Darin L. Schwartzman age 29 of Maysa, Arizona, David J. Blount age 34 of Choctaw, Oklahoma and Todd Belanger age 33 of Washington D.C. were out on Cayuga Lake fishing in a small canoe. While fishing their boat capsized sending all three occupants into the water. When Sheriff Deputies arrived Schwartzman had swam to shore and alerted residence of the issue, Belenger and Blount were still in the water holding onto the boat. The boat followed the current south along Poplar Beach Road until a Bystander in a small row boat was able to recover Blount and Belanger. Belanger was transported to Geneva General Hospital for treatment for hypothermic symptoms, Blount and Schwartzman were treated and released at the scene.The NYSP, Romulus Fire Department, South Seneca Ambu lance and Seneca Falls Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist.
