Looking for a new plant for your garden? Don’t know which plant might be best for your location and soil? Come to the Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension (SCCCE) Master Gardener Plant Swap on Saturday, May 12th for a chance to ask experienced gardeners about gardening, planting, plant choice or anything else yard or garden related. And bring any plants you might have divided or started from seed to the swap and exchange them for a new plant! Not already a gardener, but would love to have a new plant? Just bring a non-perishable food item and the SCCCE Master Gardeners will give you a plant that’s right for you. All food items will be donated to the local food pantries. And you’ll get to go home with a new plant to start your garden. If you’re already a gardener, just dig up some of those overcrowded specimens and bring them to the swap to exchange for other plants. The Plant Swap starts at 10 AM, but you should arrive between 9:30AM and 9:45AM to check in your plants and be ready to swap at 10AM sharp! The swap will return to People’s Park in Seneca Falls, near the Seneca Falls Community Center, along the canal, rain or shine! There is a gazebo for protection in case of rain. There will be a special area in the gazebo for anyone bringing a food item to exchange for a plant. Master Gardeners will be in this area to answer questions and help you select a plant.Bring your plants by 9:45 a.m. on the 12th for check-in and we’ll start swapping plants at 10. Here’s a chance to swap plants you have for plants you’d like to have. So bring whatever you have: houseplants, flowers, bulbs, vegetables, herbs. All types of plants are welcome. Every year we’ve seen an increase in the numbers and variety of plants. Stop in and find something new to try in your garden. Master Gardeners will also be available to answer your gardening questions. For every plant you bring, you’ll be able to swap for another plant. It’s a great way to increase the variety of plants for your house or garden. If you’d just like to donate your plants to the swap, you may bring them to the office May 10th or 11th or to People’s Park the morning of the swap. The event is FREE, but donations to offset costs would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please call our office at 315-539-9251.
