W’loo man busted for shoplifting, hitting woman

03/23/12 Waterloo Village Police Dept. arrested Mathew J. Bell 2nd., age 21, of 305 West Williams St., Waterloo, on charges of Petit Larceny and Harassment 2nd.It is alleged that Bell entered the Sunoco Express Mart, 136 E. Main St., Waterloo, at 4:35 A.M. this date, and left the store without paying for three cans of alcohol valued at $ 8.57. Bell was taken into custody and issued an appearance ticket to appear in Waterloo Village Court at a later date.At 7:17 A.M. Waterloo Village Police Dept. responded to the Bell residence for a family trouble complaint. It is alleged Mathew Bell struck a 38 year old female resident with his hand, and also threw water on her. Bell was then taken into custody on harassment 2nd. charges. Bell was arraigned in the Village of Waterloo Court, Judge Mattoon, on the harassment 2nd. and petit larceny charges. Bell was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $ 5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond. Bell is to reappear in Village Court on 5/2/12 to answer the charges. Waterloo Village Court also issued a order of protection for the female victim.
