Waterloo murder-for-hire defendant indicted

Seneca County District Attorney Barry Porsch announced that a four-count indictment has been filed charging Michael V. Hoffman, 45 years old, of Route 96 south, Waterloo, with Solicitation in the Second Degree (class D felony), Solicitation in the Fourth Degree (class A misdemeanor), Conspiracy in the Second Degree (class B felony), and Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree (class A misdemeanor). The maximum possible sentence for the class B felony offense of second degree conspiracy is 25 years. The indictment alleges that on February 20, 2012, Hoffman solicited an undercover police officer to kill Robert O. Williams and to assault Robert J. Taylor. The indictment resulted from an investigation conducted by the New York State Police. The indictment is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
