2,000 gallons of molasses intentionally spilled in Locke

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the intentional release of approximately 2000 gallons of molasses from two storage tanks located at Hewitt Brothers Inc on Water Street in the Hamlet of Locke. The spill occured late evening March 5, 2012 through the Early morning of March 6, 2012. The Sheriff’s Office is also investigating incidents of spray paint graffiti which occurred at the same location but at an earlier time frame. It is not known if the two incidents are related.
