The Seneca Falls Police Department and Seneca Falls Fire Department report that on Wednesday evening they responded to a structure fire at 2984 Bauer Rd in the Town of Seneca Falls. When officers arrived, they found a meat processing facility with flames coming through the roof of the northeast corner of the buidling. The fire spread quickly, fully engulfing the building, and spreading to an adjacent storage barn due to wind conditions.The Seneca Falls Fire Department gained control of the fire with aid from the Seneca County Fire Coordinators, the Waterloo, Border City, Fayette, Canoga, Varick, Romulus, Magee, Junius and Aurelius Fire Departments. Also, standing by for the fire were the Northside, Geneva, and Cayuga Fire Departments. North Seneca Ambulance also responded to assist at the scene.Seneca Falls Police report that both buildings were unoccupied during the fire and noone was injured. After investigation, it was ruled that the fire was accidental, caused my a meat smoker in the northeast corner of the building that had been used earlier in the day. The owner’s of the property were uninsured and both buildings were a total loss.
