Free identification and appraisals are available. Admission, by temporary membership, is only $5 a person and children under 12 are free. Tackle collectors from the Northeast and Canada will be exhibiting some of the finest antique fishing tackle, rods, decoys, reels, and memorabilia including advertising pieces, minnow buckets, boxes, art work, books, and creels. The NFLCC is an organization that was formed to educate the public on the history and artifacts related to the sport of fishing. It is an organization that promotes the collection and verification of antique fishing tackle and related items. American fishing tackle history began in the 1850’s with the making of metal baits by such makers as J. T. Buel and G. M. Skinner of Clayton, New York. The sport of fishing is depicted in trade cards, decoys, art work, rods, reels, unique artifacts, and of course, tackle. Items you will see were manufactured by Creek Chub, Hedden, South Bend, Pflueger, as well as many state specific manufactured lures. This is the fifth year this event has been held in Upstate New York at the Palmyra Inn. Free appraisals of tackle and other fishing items will be available to those that attend. Should you want to sell your old tackle or other fishing related items, you will have that opportunity on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Call Steve Hays for information (315) 597-4793.
