Seneca Falls man charged w/ sexting 13-year-old

Reed On February 24th, 2012 at approx. 5:35 PM the Seneca Falls Police Department arrested Todd D. Reed, age 49 from 62 Green Street Seneca Falls, NY for Attempted Rape in the Second Degree; Attempted Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree; Criminal Solicitation in the Third Degree; Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor in the Second Degree; and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.The arrest stems from a criminal investigation that began on February 23rd, 2012 by the Seneca Falls Police Department when a 13 year old female resident reported that she had been receiving inappropriate text message of a sexual nature. The victims cellular telephone was voluntarily turned over to the Seneca Falls Police Department where Officers began communicating via text messages with a male subject who was later identified as Todd D. Reed. While Officers had the cellular telephone in their possession Reed sent explicit sexual text messages and a picture of his private area to whom he believed to be a thirteen year old female. Officers set up a meeting point with Reed where it was agreed that Reed would pick up the thirteen year old female in his vehicle to obtain oral and sexual intercourse. At this meeting point, Seneca Falls Police arrested Reed with the cellular telephone that Reed was using to text the thirteen year old girl in his possession.Todd D. Reed was arraigned in the Seneca Falls Town Court before Judge Mahoney and committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond. A Felony Hearing is scheduled for February 29th, 2012 at 3pm.
