4 arrested in Montezuma home invasion/assault

Montezuma Home InvasionSheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested four persons in connection with a home invasion style assault which occurred at approximately 2:30am this morning at a residence on Fosterville Rd. in the Town of Montezuma.The investigation reveals that six individuals went to the residence of Matthew Carberry, age 28, at which time 4 of the 6 individuals forced entry through a locked door. Three of the six individuals then participated in the assault of Carberry. It is believed at this time that a telephone argument between Carberry’s ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Ryan, and his current girlfriend who was present in the home precipitated the incident. Carberry’s current girlfriend was not injured. Carberry was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital were he was treated for non life threatening injuries and released. Charged are:Joseph D. Hopler age 25of 5811 Sandbank Rd. Elbridge, N.Y.Cody L. Hopler age 19of 5811 Sandbank Rd. Elbridge, N.Y.Andrew M. Fahsel age 22of 18 Elbridge St. Jordan, N.Y. Burglary in the 1st degree (felony) Gang Assault in the second degree (felony) Stephanie L. Ryan age 23 of 104 East Main St. Elbridge, N.Y.Burglary in the 1st Degree ( felony )All four defendants were arraigned in the Town of Montezuma Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or bond. The investigation is continuing and charges may be filed in the future against two other participants, a 21 year old female and a 17 year old female.
