The Geneva City School District is offering local residents two opportunities to meet Trina S. Newton, the district’s new superintendent of schools. The first session will be Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m. in the library of Geneva High School, 101 Carter Road. Residents of the community are urged to stop by the library and meet the superintendent before the boys varsity basketball team’s home game against Midlakes High School. The second session is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 13, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the high school library, just before the district Board of Education’s meeting.Newton comes to Geneva from the Binghamton school district, where she served as assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and accountability. She began her duties as the Geneva district¹s superintendent on Jan. 17. Newton succeeds Robert Young, who retired as superintendent on Dec. 31.
