Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a one car fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred at 12:55am this morning on Lewis Rd. in the Town of Throop. Preliminary investigation reveals that a 1998 Chevrolet pick up operated by Timothy J. Marsden, age 43, of 7999 Powers Rd Auburn, N.Y. was traveling northbound on Lewis Rd., drifted off of the west side of the roadway into a ditch, became airborne and then struck a tree.Timothy J. Marsden was pronounced dead at the scene by Cayuga County Coroner, Dr. James Dolan. Marsden was wearing a seatbelt. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this accident is asked to contact Lieutenant Joseph Weeks or Detective Steve Smith at (315) 253-1610The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Throop Fire Department.
