Lodi man charged with choking, striking kids

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that investigators arrested Timothy L. Knapp age 37 of Lodi, New York on several charges related to child abuse and domestic violence. Knapp has been charged with: One count of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and five counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The charges stem from several incidents alleged to have occurred at a Town of Lodi residence. These incidents include choking a seven year old female child and picking her up by the neck. It is also alleged that Knapp punched an eleven year old female in the chest and then repeatedly spit in her face. Numerous incidents of further domestic violence committed by Knapp were reported to have occurred in the presence of the seven year old, eleven year old and a two year old.The charges are the result of an ongoing investigation that started when Knapp was arrested on Dec. 17, 2011 and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. This incident involved striking a thirteen year old child and having her drive Knapp around in a car. At that time Knapp was incarcerated in the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000.00 cash bail/ $10,000.00 secured bond with an order of protection in place.Knapp was re-arraigned on the current charges in the Town of Lodi Court on 01/19/12. He was remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $20,000.00 cash bail or $40,000.00 secured bond and is to re- appear in the Lodi Town Court on February 16, 2012 at 10:00 am to answer the charges. The order of protections are still in place. The investigation into Knapp’s actions with several children is ongoing.
