Charles Hinkle scored 20 points to lead American University past Cornell, 65-63, in Ithaca on Sunday.Hinkle hit two free throws with 5 seconds remaining to give American enough breathing room after they squandered big leads in each half. Hinkle gave American a four-point lead, 65-61, after Josh Figini’s 3-pointer with 14 seconds left had drawn the Big Red within two. Chris Wroblewski’s layup at the buzzer trimmed the final deficit for Cornell.Wroblewski scored 21 points to lead Cornell, including 14 in the second half, and Figini finished with 14 points.
