The Ovid Ecumenical Food Pantry prepared 150 thanksgiving meal boxes complete with a turkey, gravy mix, mashed potatoes, vegetables, pickles, rolls, pies and dessert items. Food pantry director, Nancy Caniff was very thankful for all of the (cash and item) donations received from Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Ovid American Legion, Ovid VFW Men’s Auxiliary & Women’s Auxiliary, Ovid-Willard Lion’s Club, Eagle Hotel, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Varick UMC, Christ Lutheran Church-Sheldrake, Trumansburg First Baptist, Christ Episcopal Church-Willard, W. Fayette Presbyterian Church, many generous anonymous donations and South Seneca Schools.South Seneca Middle School Thanksgiving food pantry collection recently netted 75 lbs. of canned goods, a $100 donation from MS Student Council and $40 donation from the Class of 2017. South Seneca Elementary food pantry collection garnered 5 boxes of canned goods. The Ovid Ecumenical Food Pantry serves families from the Tompkins/Schuyler County line to the Fayette town line and served 12,276 people in the past year. Each Monday, eligible families may shop in the food pantry for items for their family for a few days.
