On November 18th, 2011 at approximately 10:43 AM Seneca Falls Police arrested Robert L. Stone, age 62 from 2 Fall Street Apt. #4 Seneca Falls, NY for Menacing in the 2nd Degree; Resisting Arrest; and Criminal Possession Of A Weapon in the 4th Degree. The arrest stems from a report that was made to the Seneca Falls Police Department of a male walking around a parking lot in front of a doctors office holding a baseball bat in his hand. Upon patrols arrival the male was gone from the parking lot. Seneca Falls Police checked the nearby apartment’s and located the male in the second floor hallway still holding the bat and a large knife was also sticking out of his front jacket pocket.When Police approached the male subject he became highly agitated and combative towards officer’s by raising the baseball bat over his shoulders with two hands and waiving it in the air as he advanced toward the Officers. Stone refused to comply with Officers numerous verbal command’s to drop the baseball bat and get down of the floor. One Officer deployed Oleoresin Capsicum (O.C.pepper spray) in Stone’s face causing him to throw the bat to the ground, making him unable to see. Officer’s had to advise Stone numerous times to get on the ground before he complied with their orders. Stone then failed to comply with Officer’s verbal commands to place his hands straight out to be handcuffed. Officers were able to pull Stone’s hands out and handcuff him without further incident. A baseball bat and two knifes were confiscated at the scene. Stone was arraigned in the Seneca Falls Town Court in front of Judge Mahoney and committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash or $10,000 Ins Bond. Stone is scheduled to reappear in Seneca Falls Town Court on December 14th, 2011 at 9:00 AM to further answer the charges.
