The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that Deputies were dispatched to 2746 Varick Romulus Townline Road, Romulus, NY, for the report of a garage fire. The property owner, Donald Warne, age 64, was working outside when he noticed his garage on fire. It was determined that the fire started from a faulty golf cart that Warne had just parked in the garage. The garage was a total loss. Inside the garage at the time of the fire was a 1995 Jeep Wrangler owned by Warne along with multiple tools and equipment. The Romulus Volunteer Fire Department was the primary agency. The following fire departments were also on scene to aid; Varick, Ovid, Lodi, and Interlaken. The Seneca County Emergency Services unit was also on scene to assist. The damage is estimated to be around $70,000. The garage was insured at the time of the fire.
