Todd Parlato, Chairman of the Ulysses Democratic Committee, announced today that his committee has endorsed the re-election Roger Rector as Ulysses Town Justice.Judge Rector, long time Ulysses Town Justice, will oppose Republican newcomer Mark Dresser in the general election on November 8. Rector willappear on the non-partisan Justice Party ballot line. Roger Rector has served his community as a respected and effective Justice for 37 years, presiding over thousands of court cases, including jury trials. In addition to criminal cases, Judge Rector has presided over the wide range of civiland domestic matters that come before the Town Court. He has held offices in county, state, and national magistrates’ organizations, and has trained other jurists as a faculty member of the NY Unified Court System’s Advanced Judicial Training Program.Judge Rector has worked tirelessly to assist in the development of alternatives to incarceration. He was instrumental in the implementation of electronicmonitoring for criminal defendants and the introduction of electronic interlock devices in DWI cases. In addition, hundreds of local couples have had their marriage vows solemnized by Judge Rector. A Trumansburg resident for 44 years and the father of five Trumansburg Central School graduates, Roger has provided leadership to many civic and youth organizations in the community, including the Conservatory of Fine Arts, Cayuga Nature Center, Trumansburg Charitable Trust, Tompkins Environmental Management Council, TCS athletic teams and numerous youth programs. Judge Rector has pledged to keep politics out of the Town Court. Chairman Parlato encourages all Ulysses residents to get to the polls on November 8 and help re-elect Roger Rector.
