Penn Yan woman arrested in Walmart Incident

Canandaigua, N.Y. — A Penn Yan woman was charged with resisting arrest yesterday afternoon after allegedly interfering with an arrest of a man wanted for a parole violation. Shereese Tosha Thompson, 22, of 11 Main St., Apartment 2, was charged after an incident at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday at the Walmart in Canandaigua, according to Ontario County sheriff’s deputies. Deputies say Thompson was trying to prevent police from arresting Christopher J. Newell, 26, of 142 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, who was wanted for a parole violation out of Yates County. Newell was charged with second-degree criminal contempt of court, deputies said. Both were arraigned in Hopewell Town Court and taken to Ontario County jail in lieu of $500 cash or $1,000 bond bail.
