Join us on Thursday 9/22 at 4 pm, as Jean McPheeters and Rob LaHood of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce and New Roots Charter School students, teachers, staff, Principal Tina Nilsen-Hodges and Board Members kick off their third year and celebrate the renovation and expansion of their school facilities.After the ribbon-cutting, students and professional musicians will play jazz tunes together on the front porch of the Clinton House at 116 North Cayuga Street in Ithaca. Light refreshments will be served, and the event should run until approximately 6 pm.This is the first year New Roots Charter School will have a full 9-12th grade program, and New Roots looks forward to graduating its first senior class in June 2012. A tuition-free public charter high school serving students from throughout the region, New Roots infuses its college-prep curriculum with developing leadership skills in its students in the areas of sustainability, community involvement and social justice.
