Wayne County deputies arrested a local man earlyWednesday morning after he allegedly stole a car andled police on a brief chase.Brian G. Lazzar, 32, of Sodus Shores Road, wascharged with fourth degree grand larceny, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, second degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving.Deputies arrested Lazzar about 5:30 a.m. after he tried to speed away from Wayne County Sheriff ’s Office Sgt. Joe Croft. Croft was trying to execute a traffic stop on Sodus Shores Road. Following a brief pursuit, Lazzar drove the vehicle off the road andran into some nearby woods before Croft and another deputy captured him.Lazzar also was ticketed for several traffic violations,including speeding and failure to stop for a stop sign.Lazzar was arraigned in Lyons Village Court andtaken to the county jail on $20,000 bail or $40,000bond. He will answer the charges in Sodus TownCourt.
