The Seneca Falls Police Department would like to remind area residents to utilize extra caution as the 2011-2012 school year begins. There are three posted school zones in the Village of Seneca Falls: Troy Street in front of the Seneca Falls Middle School/Mynderse Academy, Clinton Street and Porter Street surrounding Frank Knight School, and Garden Street, Chapin Street, and White Street surrounding Elizabeth Cady Stanton School. Speed limits in the these areas is reduced to 15 MPH on school days from 7am-6pm. Police also remind residents that it is unlawful to pass a stopped school bus and can result in a minimum of a $250 fine. This also applies in school bus loops on school grounds. Additionally, police would like to remind students who are walking to and from school to utilize sidewalks where available. If sidewalks are not available please utilize the shoulder in a single file line to allow vehicular traffic to safely pass.
