Town board to consider SF Town Hall redesign

The Seneca Falls Town Board Tuesday will consider aproposal from a local architect tochange the exterior design of the new Town Building at 10 Fall St.Paul R. Foote of Cayuga Street is asking the board to look at his design, which uses roof and siding materials and a plan to include pillars for a more historic look — rather than the functional, modern look of the design submitted by Barton & Loguidice EngineersTown officials have decided to rehabilitate the former town building, damaged by a 2004 arson fire, back into town offices and a court facility. The work will be paid for by a building reserve fund and money from a fire insurance settlement. After the fire, town offices moved to the former library at 35 Fall St. in leased space and then to the current leased site in the former St. John Bosco School on West Bayard Street.Peter Same, town supervisor, said the board needs to decide if they like the new proposed design well enough to justify probable increased costs over the current proposed design.
