Marijuana growing operation busted in Waterloo

On Thursday, September 01, 2011 at 07:10 AM the Waterloo Village Police arrested Kevin D. Westcott, age 35 of 342 East Main Street, Waterloo, on awarrant for Criminal Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree a Felony. The charge stems from an ongoing investigation that began on May 16, 2011 whenVillage Police discovered a large sophisticated Marijuana growing operation at Mr. Westcott’s residence. Mr. Westcott had multiple marijuana plants growing in various stages in his garage along with 58 mature plants that were sent to the Monroe County Crime Laboratory for analysis. The marijuana was tested at the Monroe County Crime Laboratory and the charge stems from the weight of the marijuana being 1.99 pounds. Mr. Westcott was originally charged with Unlawful growing marijuana and Endangering the Welfare of a child on May 16, 2011 prior to the Laboratory results. Mr. Westcott turned himself into this office and was arraigned in the Waterloo Village Court were he was released on his own recognizance. Mr. Westcott is due back in Waterloo Village Court on September 10, 2011.
