East Bloomfield, N.Y. — Four people were hospitalized Saturday after a crash Ontario County deputies say was caused by a driver running a red light at the intersection of Route 5 and Whalen Road. Travis C. Hughes, 22, of 644 Bell Road, Newark, was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign and for not wearing a seat belt, deputies said. Hughes was driving a 2005 Isuzu box truck westbound on Route 5 when he allegedly ran a red light and struck a truck driven by Donald C. Starkey, 63, of 5163 Old West Lake Road, Honeoy, deputies said. Hughes and his passenger, Cody M. Ball, 19, of 49 S. Main St., Rushville, were taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital by East Bloomfield-Holcomb Ambulance with a head laceration and leg pain, respectively. Starkey and his passenger, Carol B. Starkey, 61, were taken to Thompson Hospital by Finger Lakes Ambulance with a head laceration and back pain, respectively. Hughes is scheduled to appear in East Bloomfield Town Court at a later date.
