Police shoot out reported in downtown Ithaca

Police were on the scene of an incident in downtown Ithaca on Thursday night. As of early Friday morning, much of Martin Luther King Jr. and State Street between Corn and Plain has been sealed off by officers and police tape. Witnesses say there was a shoot-out involving an unknown suspect and police which reportedly happened in front of a crowd of State Diner customers.The Ithaca Police Department was joined at the scene with the New York State Police and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department. The Ithaca Fire Department was also on the scene.More on this story as information becomes available.
