Keuka wineries invite you to experience harvest

Experience the incomparable beauty of the heart of the Finger Lakes and treat yourself to an array of fine wines and dishes bursting with the vibrant flavors of the finest locally produced foods. The eight wineries of the Keuka Lake Wine Trail will usher in the fall season with their Harvest Tour of Food & Wine celebration, Saturday and Sunday, September 17-18, 2011. In addition to over a dozen foods, each ticket holder will have the opportunity to sample over thirty different wines and will receive a complimentary Keuka Lake Wine Trail signature wine glass. The event runs from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday.While driving along the Wine Trail, attendees will enjoy the scents and sights of Harvest studded by stops at wineries offering culinary delights such as Butternut squash with sausage, curried winter squash & apple soup, gratin of autumn vegetables & double-smoked bacon, grape & rosemary focaccia and native grape crisp. The autumn food samples will be paired with a stunning variety of world-class Finger Lakes wines, from classic dry varietals to luscious dessert wines. “We time the event to be enjoyed as the grapes are coming off of the vine and local farmers are showcasing a vast selection of fruits and vegetables. The abundance of local produce provides an excellent opportunity for chefs to utilize the freshest and highest quality products,” says Mike Oliver of Heron Hill Winery. The winemaker and vineyard crew are likely to be either harvesting or pressing grapes, and event attendees will enjoy mingling with the tasting room staff to taste and appreciate the fruits of the labor.Participating wineries include Heron Hill Winery, Dr. Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars, Stever Hill Vineyards, Hunt Country Vineyards, Keuka Spring Vineyards, Barrington Cellars, McGregor Vineyard Winery and Ravines Wine Cellars. Ticket holders are also entered in a drawing for a one-night stay for two at the Inn at Esperanza Mansion, a sightseeing cruise aboard the Esperanza Rose, and a certificate good for a bottle of wine from each of the eight wineries!Event tickets are just $25 per person plus tax for the weekend, $19 per person plus tax for Sunday only. A limited number of weekend tickets may be available at the wineries on the day of the event for $30 per person plus tax.
