Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg announced today that his Office has certified annual compliance pursuant to New York State Accreditation Standards for the Court Security and Corrections Divisions. “Maintaining New York State Accreditation status does not end with the initial award – it is a continuous process of ensuring compliance throughout the year with best practice standards. Annually, we are required to certify compliance of all of our divisions or risk losing accreditation status. Being only one of three Sheriff’s Office state-wide to be a totally accredited agency is something we are very proud of” said the Sheriff.“We have worked too hard and have seen first hand how achieving NYS Accreditation has improved how we administer the Sheriff’s Office and deliver services to the residents of Seneca County. Today, we take another step in ensuring stability and continuity in the operation of the Sheriff’s Office. We have had to demonstrate and certify compliance with over 200 best practice standards in these two divisions alone to maintain accreditation status” said Stenberg.“The residents of Seneca County can be assured that the Sheriff’s Office is being operated and services are being delivered in accordance with best practice standards for modern law enforcement agencies and correctional facilities” said Sheriff Stenberg.Annual certification compliance for the Law Enforcement and Civil Divisions are slated for March 2012.
