The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross was on the scene at 11179 Woodruff Rd in Wolcott Monday evening to assist a family of five after a fire destroyed their single family home. The fire started in the living room of the residence at 6:30PM. Red Cross volunteers provided emergency food and clothing to the family. “This has been a very busy summer season for fires” stated James Love, Executive Director of the Wayne County Chapter. “We are averaging a little over a fire a week in the community which is a lot during the summer months”. Love also stated that the busiest time of year for fires is during the months of November, December, and January when people turn to alternative sources of heat. You can help the American Red Cross continue proving assistance to families that have been impacted by fires and other disasters by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross Local Disaster Relief Fund. These funds will be used to provide emergency food, clothing, shelter, medications, toys, etc to the hundreds of people in Wayne County every year whose lives have been touched by a disaster.
