The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce’s ATHENA Committee and ACE Association proudly announces the 3rd annual ATHENA Award for Continuing Education (ACE) scholarship recipient. The ATHENA ACE supports women developing their capacity for leadership in our community by pursuing additional education. The ATHENA ACE is awarded to one or more women who demonstrate the qualities promoted by the ATHENA International program: excellence, creativity and initiative in her profession, valuable service by contributing time and energy to her community, and assistance to other women in reaching their full potential. This year’s ACE awardee is Kimberly Seidel. She has been accepted to Finger Lakes Health’s School of Nursing to pursue her goal of becoming a registered nurse. She plans to use the Nursing Degree to pursue her passion for providing comfort and relief to patients. She is currently a full time student and stay at home mom. She was selected because of her demonstrated capacity to perform academically – Suzanne Keller reports Kim is “literally at the top of her class!” Kim was also recommended by co-workers and friends who told of her energy and leadership in her work and personal life. She is the mother of two who volunteers many hours at West Street Elementary. She has also been a team leader for the Relay for Life, a volunteer for Miles for Max and soccer coach at the YMCA. Julie Myer, RN says, “People are drawn to Kim because of her enthusiasm for life.”Kim anticipates that she will continue to be able to influence women of all ages from her young daughters to her classmates to the women she will care for and work with as a registered nurse. We congratulate Kim on her ambition to balance her career in healthcare with her desire to impact her community’s youth and women.
