Waterloo Rotary inducted its fourth new member on Monday. Kaaren Gerlach was welcomed to the club by District Governor Norma Madayag-Reilly. “You join 1.2 million Rotarians, in 34,000 clubs in 22 countries throughout the world who are committed to Service Above Self,” Reilly told Gerlach.Gerlach is no stranger to Rotary, having participated in several service projects. She is a Paul Harris fellow, Rotary’s highest honor. A retired special education teacher, she is program director for Literacy Volunteers. Other recently inducted Waterloo Rotarians include Sandra Ferrara, vice president of Seneca Falls Savings Bank; SueAnn Lincoln, a teacher’s aide at Skoi Yase School, and Tim Lincoln, a network analyst for Waterloo schools. Waterloo Rotary conducts projects throughout the year to help better our community, support youth activities, contribute to Camp Onseyawa and promote literacy. It also is supporting District 7120’s initiative to provide safe drinking water to countries throughout the world, and Polio Plus, the Rotary initiative to eradicate polio worldwide.Waterloo Rotary meets at 6:30 pm Mondays at Waterloo Holiday Inn.
