Parolee arrested in Seneca Falls burglary

One person was arrested following a police investigation that occurred in the Village of Seneca Falls on 07/21/11. The Seneca Falls Police Department responded down to the Mews at 2 Fall Street after receiving a complaint from a resident down there that someone had broken into the resident’s apartment and stolen approximately $100. Police state that the door to the apartment had been damaged while someone had made entry and that the resident’s money was missing from a lockbox.Further investigation by village police pointed to Jamie O. Davidoff, age 22, of 2 Fall Street, Apt. 23, Seneca Falls, NY as a person of interest in this investigation. Davidoff, a parolee with less than 3 weeks left on his parole term, was initially interviewed and denied any involvement. Davidoff’s parole officer was also contacted and informed of this matter and that Davidoff continued to be a person of interest on this matter. Davidoff’s parole officer conducted a home visit and a search of his apartment and found an unknown powdery substance along with an unknown pill that was not prescribed to Davidoff. Field tests for the powdery substance showed a positive indication for cocaine and the pill to be Amphetamine, a Scheduled drug.Davidoff was placed in custody on 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and transported back to the police department station. While in police custody, Davidoff was again questioned about the burglary and admitted to going into the resident’s apartment and taking his money. Davidoff was additionally charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Petit Larceny, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree.Davidoff was arraigned in Seneca Falls Town Court and committed to SCCF on $1000 Cash/$2000 Bond for the drug charges and has to re-appear in court on 08/10/11 at 9 a.m. to answer those charges. At the arraignment for the burglary charges, Davdoff was committed to SCCF on no bail as he is considered a predicate felon due to previous, multiple felony convictions. A felony hearing is scheduled for 08/02/11 at 1:15 p.m.
