Seneca Falls ready to provide same sex licenses

Seneca Falls Town Clerk, Nicaletta Greer thinks her office may be busier this week as same-sex couples exercise their right to marry. “Seneca Falls is the home of Women’s Rights, so I’m thinking maybe we will have quite a few on Monday.” she said.The law goes into effect today which could result in a wedding bonanza in the coming weeks. There could also be continued controversy, with at least two clerks in other areas of the state already resigning in opposition to the law.Area clerks recently interviewed have said there has been little controversy or signs of a boom in requests.Waterloo Town Clerk, Sandra Ridley stated that it’s the law and personal feelings or beliefs of issuing agents has no relevance.Some clerks offices planned to open today, but none of the local area clerks recently interviewed were among them.
