Geneva Teens charged with gang assault – FingerLakes1.com Archive

Twp Geneva teens are facing gang assault charges after an incident early Sunday morning. In a report published by the Finger Lakes Times, Shayla M Sapp, 17 of Pine St. and Kanea M. Grady, 17, of Castle St., were arrested and charged by city police with second-degree gang assault, a mid-level felony. Geneva Police say there will likely be more arrests in the incident. According to Lt. Eric Heieck, Sapp and Grady were part of a group of approx. 15 people, both male and female walking and being loud on Pultney St. about 3:00 Sunday. When a man and his wife came out of their home to complain, Sapp and Grady allegedly entered the couple’s yard and hit the woman. When the man tried to defend his wife, police said he was beaten by others in the group and suffered cuts to his head and face. Lt. Heieck said the woman’s eye was swollen shut from being punched. The couple was taken to Geneva General Hospital, treated and released. Sapp and Grady were both arraigned in city court and taken to Ontario County Jail on $5,000. cash bail or $10,000. bail bond.
