The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sheriff’s Deputies charged Jeffrey T. Chalfant, 33, of 908 Higby Road in New Hartford, New York, on a charge of Confinement of a Companion Animal in a Vehicle in Extreme Temperatures. The charge stems from an incident where Chalfant allegedly left his dog in a parked vehicle in the parking lot of a Town of Junius business for a length of time during the extreme heat. The dog did not appear to be injured from the incident. Chalfant was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Junius Town Court on August 16th, 2011 at 7pm.
