Jet Skis collide on Seneca Lake near Romulus

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that Deputies investigated a personal injury Boat Accident that occurred on the East side of Seneca Lake in the Town of Romulus.The Boat patrol was sent to a reported collision of two Jet Skis., and was assisted by road patrol units from the Sheriffs Office and NYSP. The two jet skis had left the area of the accident and were located by Deputies at Sampson State Park. Deputies report that David A Stanton age 27, and Mallory S Mattson age 26, both of 142 Herrick Hill Rd Oneonta NY were each riding their jet skis in circles, when Stantons Jet Ski ran into and over the left side of Mattsons vessel.Mattson was knocked off the Jet Ski and lost consciousness momentarily. Stanton and Mattson were assisted by an unknown boater, and made it back to Sampson State Park , where Deputies called South Seneca Ambulance to check Mattson who complained of left hand and wrist pain, and a laceration to the under side of her chin.Upon further checking over Mattson was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Upstate in Syracuse, where she is currently being treated for a concussion. David Stanton was issued tickets for Reckless operation of a vessel and operationwithout a safety certificate and will appear in the Town of Romulus Court at a later date.
