Fayette board may buy SF Village Water Plant

Fayette Town Board voted to explore the purchase the Village of Seneca Falls Water Treatment Plant on Thursday. According to the Finger Lakes Times, board member Jeff Trout made the motion and the board voted 5-0 to inquire about buying the plant that is located on Parker Road in the Town of Fayette. Discussions included the fact that the Village of Seneca Falls is interested in reducing debt prior to dissolution at the end of the year. It was suggested that maybe if the town acquired the plant, it could provide water to Fayette residents and sell to others. The possibility of hiring the village of Waterloo to run the plant was also discussed. Mr. Trout said, “We need to cooperate and work together for the benefit of the whole county, using some long-term thinking.”
