Waterloo man steals over $30k in lottery tickets

On July 1st, 2011 at approx. 1:00 PM Seneca Falls Police arrested Michael D. Husner, age 21 from 44 1/2 West Elizabeth Street Apt.#2 Waterloo, NY for Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree. The arrest stems from an investigation that began on June 17th, 2011 when the owner of a Seneca Falls convenience store reported a larceny of scratch off lottery tickets out of their lottery vending machine and approximately three hundred dollars out of the cash register. Further investigation by the Seneca Falls Police into this incident showed that there was an alleged larceny of over $30,000 in New York State Lottery scratch off tickets and their winnings. It was learned that starting in February of 2011 and ending in June of 2011 Husner opened the New York State Lottery Vending Machine using a key while he was employed at this convenience store. Once inside the machine, Husner was allegedly taking in upwards of fifty lottery scratch off tickets out of the machine each time, two times a week. Each lottery scratch off ticket Husner won had a face value between five and twenty dollars. Husner would then scratch off the tickets and any winning tickets Husner received he would then cash at the same store that he stole the lottery cards from. A further investigation into the larceny of the cash out of the register showed that Husner allegedly took New York State Lottery scratch off tickets from a manual pull box from behind the register counter, scanned them as being sold, and then never put any cash into the cash register.Husner was arraigned in the Seneca Falls Town Court in front of Judge Mahoney and committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash or $20,000 Ins. Bond. A felony Hearing is scheduled for July 6th, 2011 at 10:00 AM.
