Moravia sex offender arrested for sex abuse

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a level 3 registered sex offender for sexually abusing a 16 year old female child. The child is not related to the defendant and is not his previous victim. Bruce D. Stebbins, age 48 of 25 Buddy Drive Moravia, N.Y. was arrested by Detectives at 10:00pm last evening following an investigation which began yesterday morning. Stebbins is charged with one count of Criminal Sexual Act in the third degree, a class E Felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Aurelius Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash or bond bail.During the investigation Detectives seized Stebbins’ van, a 1991 Ford “conversion style” color white along with his cellular phone. The investigation is continuing and further charges are pending a review of physical evidence both in the van and on the defendant’s cellular phone. The case will then be turned over to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.Bruce Stebbins was previously convicted of Rape in the 1st degree ( victim less than 11 ) in 1998 and served 10 years in state prison.
