Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an inmate of the Cayuga County Jail for the assault of another inmate.Jacob J. Donahue, age 25 of was arrested by Detectives at 3:15 on June 16, 2011 after an investigation that began on June 12, 2011. Donahue has been charged with Assault in the Second Degree, a class D Felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Sennett Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond bail.During the investigation Detectives learned that the assault took place during the morning hours of the 12th and led to an inmate being transported to the Auburn Memorial Hospital where he was treated. The inmate was then returned to the Cayuga County Jail. The case has been turned over to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.At the time of the assault Donahue was confined to the Cayuga County Jail as a result of a prior arrest for Assault in the Second Degree that occurred in the City of Auburn on April 10th, 2011.
