Sex Offender Arrested in Seneca County

On May 5th, 2011 at approx. 7:30 PM Seneca Falls Police arrested George C. Stetson Jr. age 28 from 393 Wagner Street Lot#44 Waterloo, NY under the New York State Corrections Law Sex Offender Registration Act for the Class E Felony of Failure to Register Change Of Address. Section 168-f subdivision 4 requires that, any sex offender shall register with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services no later than ten calendar days after any change in address, or any change in his or her status of enrollment, attendance, employment, or residence at any institution of higher education. George C. Stetson Jr. is a registered level 1 sex offender. On May 25th, 2011 the Seneca Falls Police Department received a phone call from George C. Stetson Jr.’s wife advising the Police Department that George moved from the Village of Seneca Falls to Ovid, NY in April of 2011 and that she has been telling her husband that he needed to go to the Police Department to complete his Sex Offender Change of Address Form. The Seneca Falls Police Department then began an investigation into this allegation. It was then learned that the trailer Stetson was residing in located at 26 Chapin Street Lot#13 in Seneca Falls was condemned on April 16th, 2011 by Seneca County Codes and since being reopened the trailer was rented out to another tenant. Stetson then allegedly moved from the residence at 26 Chapin Street Lot#13 Seneca Falls to a residence in Ovid, NY. Stetson allegedly stayed at this residence for almost a month before moving again to his current address in Waterloo. George C. Stetson Jr. was arraigned in the Seneca Falls Town Court in front of Judge Mahoney and committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $2,500 cash or $5,000 Ins. Bond. A Felony Hearing was scheduled for May 8th, 2011 at 4:00 PM.
