This week is the deadline to register for the annual Finger Lakes Carp Derby sponsored by Waterloo Rotary.Registration is $10 per individual and $25 for immediate family. Registrations are accepted at CanalSide Experiences, 7-6 Waterloo-Geneva Road, Waterloo, (315) 651-4443 or Nugents Hardware, 5 W. Main Street, Waterloo (315) 539-4013 and KT Styling, PreEmption Road, Geneva. Checks should be made payable to Waterloo Rotary Club.“It is important to get carp out of our waterways because they eat the eggs and fry of game fish,” explained Carp Derby chair John Kenny. The derby will be from sunrise till noon on Sunday, June 12, with weigh-in from noon to 3 p.m. on Oak Island, Waterloo. Prizes will be awarded for the four heaviest carp. A concession stand will offer food and drinks. All proceeds benefit Rotary community projects, including Camp Onseyawa.
